# Montreal Marketing, Web Design & WordPress Development | Red Dream Studios > Montreal Website Design, Graphic Design, Branding, and Marketing Agency ## Posts ### How AI Is Changing Website Design URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/how-ai-is-changing-website-design/ Artificial intelligence is transforming the web design industry at an unprecedented pace. What once took weeks of planning, design, coding, and content creation can now be accomplished in days—or even hours. However, while AI has become an incredibly powerful tool, it has not replaced the need for experienced web designers and developers. Instead, it has fundamentally changed how successful websites are planned, built, and optimized. ## AI Accelerates the Design Process Modern AI tools can quickly generate layouts, write initial website copy, suggest color palettes, create graphics, and even produce functional code. This allows businesses to move from concept to prototype much faster than traditional workflows. Rather than spending hours creating a blank canvas, designers can use AI to generate ideas, compare multiple design directions, and refine the strongest concepts. The result is a faster, more collaborative design process that allows more time to focus on strategy and user experience. ## Better Content, Faster Creating high-quality content has traditionally been one of the biggest obstacles to launching a website. AI can assist by generating draft copy for service pages, product descriptions, FAQs, blog articles, and metadata. While AI dramatically reduces the time required to produce content, it still benefits from human expertise. Experienced professionals ensure the content reflects a company’s unique voice, accurately represents its services, and meets SEO best practices. ## Smarter User Experiences Artificial intelligence is also improving how websites interact with visitors. Features such as intelligent chatbots, personalized recommendations, automated customer support, and predictive search help businesses provide faster and more relevant experiences. These tools can increase engagement, improve customer satisfaction, and generate more qualified leads without requiring additional staff. ## AI Improves SEO Search engine optimization has evolved beyond keywords alone. AI tools can help identify content opportunities, optimize page structure, improve readability, suggest internal linking strategies, and analyze competitors. Combined with technical SEO expertise, AI allows businesses to create websites that are better positioned to rank in search engines while also providing valuable information to visitors. ## AI Is Changing How People Find Businesses Many consumers are beginning to use AI assistants instead of traditional search engines to discover products and services. Rather than searching for “Montreal web designer,” users may ask questions such as: - Who are the best web designers in Montreal? - Who specializes in WordPress websites? - Which agency is best for small businesses? - Who offers ongoing website support? To appear in these AI-generated recommendations, websites need clear, authoritative, well-structured content that demonstrates genuine expertise, experience, and trustworthiness. ## Human Expertise Still Matters Although AI can automate many aspects of website creation, it cannot replace strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, or a deep understanding of business goals. A successful website requires careful planning, user-focused design, technical optimization, accessibility, performance, security, and ongoing maintenance. These are areas where experienced professionals continue to provide significant value. The most effective agencies are those that embrace AI as a productivity tool while combining it with years of real-world experience and technical knowledge. ## The Future of Web Design Artificial intelligence will continue to reshape the web design industry, making websites faster to build, easier to maintain, and more personalized than ever before. Businesses that adopt AI thoughtfully—while still investing in professional strategy and execution—will be best positioned to stand out in an increasingly competitive digital landscape. AI is not replacing web designers; it is empowering experienced designers and developers to create better websites more efficiently. The businesses that benefit most will be those that combine cutting-edge technology with human creativity, strategic insight, and a relentless focus on delivering exceptional user experiences. --- ### Why Most Small Business Websites Quietly Kill Sales URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/why-most-small-business-websites-quietly-kill-sales/ Your website should be your hardest-working employee — building trust, generating leads, and helping customers take action 24/7. But for many small businesses, the opposite is happening. Most websites don’t fail because they look “bad.” They fail because they quietly create friction. Slow loading times. Confusing navigation. Weak messaging. Outdated visuals. No clear call-to-action. In today’s fast-moving digital world, visitors make decisions in seconds. If your website feels outdated, difficult to use, or unclear, potential customers often leave before ever contacting you. A beautiful website means nothing if it doesn’t convert visitors into customers. At Red Dream Studios, we believe great web design is more than aesthetics — it’s about creating an experience that builds confidence, communicates value, and drives real business growth. A modern website should: - Load quickly - Work flawlessly on mobile devices - Clearly explain what you do - Build trust instantly - Guide visitors toward taking action Your website isn’t just an online brochure anymore. It’s often the first impression people have of your business. And first impressions matter. --- ### AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) vs SEO (Search Engine Optimization). What's the difference? URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/aeo-answer-engine-optimization-vs-seo-search-engine-optimization-whats-the-difference/ Traditional SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) serve fundamentally different goals. SEO is about getting a user to *click *on your link, while AEO is about getting an AI to *cite *your content as a source. When is comes to AEO, here are the most important content considerations to ensure AI platforms find and trust your site. ### **How to Write Content for AEO (Key Changes)** If you’re used to traditional SEO, think of AEO as writing for a *librarian who must quote you directly* rather than a judge who just needs to rank you. Here is the breakdown of the key shifts: **STRUCTURE SEO** (old way): Long introductions, storytelling, burying the lead **AEO** (new way): Answer First: Put the direct answer in the first 1-2 sentences of each section **FORMAT SEO** (old way): Walls of text to increase “dwell time” **AEO** (new way): Chunking: Short paragraphs, bullet points, and comparison tables **HEADINGS SEO** (old way): Vague titles like “Why it matters” **AEO** (new way): Explicit Questions: H2s like “How does X solve Y?” or “What is the price of Z?” **TONE SEO** (old way): Promotional and brand-centric **AEO** (new way): Neutral & Factual: AI trusts plain, “non-salesy” definitions** ** **KEYWORDS SEO** (old way): Specific strings (“buy red shoes”) **AEO** (new way): Entities & Relationships: Topics, concepts, and attributes (“Nike,” “size 9,” “leather material” ### **The “Answer First” Rule** AI models (like ChatGPT or Perplexity) scan content to find a direct response to a user’s query. If your page starts with a story or a long introduction, the AI may skip your page entirely. ** THE FIX:** Use the **inverted pyramid** style. State the conclusion immediately, then provide the evidence and details afterward . ### **Build Topical Authority (Not Just Keywords)** Unlike traditional SEO, which often focuses on ranking one page for one keyword, AI prioritizes **topical authority**. If you cover a topic comprehensively (hub-and-spoke model), AI views you as an expert source. **THE FIX:** Create “Pillar Pages” that cover a broad topic and link out to “Cluster Pages” that answer specific related questions . ### **Entities Over Keywords** AI search engines operate on **entities** (nouns, concepts, places) rather than just keywords. You need to define these clearly. **The Fix:** Be explicit. Instead of saying “Our software is fast,” say “Our software processes 10,000 requests per second (Latency: <50ms).” Define your terms. ### **Metadata for AEO (The “Context Anchor”)** For AEO, meta tags stop being just “ranking levers” and become **context anchors** for the AI. - **Title Tags:** Make them descriptive. (e.g., “Project Management Software: Features, Pricing, and Security Comparison”). - **Headings (H1-H3):** Frame these as specific questions or clear claims so the AI can instantly map them to user intent. In the shift from SEO to AEO, the rules haven’t just changed — the entire game has. AI platforms reward clarity, structure, and factual precision, not clever hooks or keyword stuffing. If your content delivers direct answers, defines entities clearly, and demonstrates true topical authority, AI systems are far more likely to cite you as a trusted source. The businesses that adapt now will own the next era of search, while those clinging to old SEO habits will slowly disappear from AI‑driven results. The future belongs to brands that write for humans *and* machines — with accuracy, transparency, and expertise at the core. --- ### Face‑to‑Face Business Networking in 2026: Why Montreal Professionals Still Need to Show Up URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/face-to-face-business-networking-in-2026-why-montreal-professionals-still-need-to-show-up/ Even in an era dominated by **Teams** and **Zoom**, in‑person networking in Montreal is not just relevant—it’s *essential*. Digital meetings are efficient, but they rarely replicate the trust, spontaneity, and relationship‑building that happen when people meet face‑to‑face. Montreal’s business culture thrives on personal connection, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest years yet for live professional events. ## **Why In‑Person Networking Still Matters** **Authenticity, trust, and serendipity** remain the core advantages of meeting in person. Body language, energy, and spontaneous conversation create bonds that virtual calls simply can’t match. Montreal’s multicultural, relationship‑driven business environment amplifies this effect—showing up physically signals commitment and credibility. ## **How to Make the Most of Face‑to‑Face Networking** - **Prepare a sharp personal pitch** that communicates who you help and how. - **Follow up within 24–48 hours** to turn a conversation into a relationship. - **Attend consistently**—Montreal’s business community rewards familiarity. - **Use digital tools strategically** to maintain relationships between events. ## **Where to Network in Montreal in 2026** Below are **five confirmed, in‑person Montreal networking opportunities happening in 2026**, replacing any events that are not running this year. ### 1. **C2 Montréal — May 19–21, 2026** A world‑renowned creative‑business conference drawing **5,000+ leaders** from over 50 countries. It focuses on emerging trends, startup showcases, and high‑value B2B networking across the financial sector. ### 5. **MonElle Events — 2026 Networking Series (Multiple Dates)** A bi‑monthly series of curated professional networking events throughout 2026, including: - **Winter Professional Networking — Feb 19, 2026** - **Pre‑Summer Mixer — May 2026 (TBA)** - **Summer Rooftop Soirée — July 2026 (TBA)** - **Back to Business — September 2026 (TBA)** These events attract Montreal’s creative, tech, and business communities. Face‑to‑face networking is not only alive in Montreal—it’s *thriving*. The city’s 2026 calendar is packed with high‑impact opportunities to meet collaborators, clients, and mentors. Virtual tools help maintain relationships, but **real growth still happens when people meet in person**. --- ### Navigating the Montreal Market: Understanding Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) & Geo SEO URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/navigating-the-montreal-market-understanding-answer-engine-optimization-aeo-geo-seo/ In the competitive Montreal market, attracting the right clients requires a strategic approach. This post explores Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Geographic SEO – key elements for optimizing your website and increasing your chances of being discovered by local clients. At Red Dream Studios, we’re committed to helping businesses in Montreal thrive. ## **Understanding Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) – Focusing on Local Search** Montreal’s unique market demands a deeper understanding of how potential clients find businesses like yours. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) centers on the candidate journey, emphasizing how easily people can find and connect with businesses they’re actively searching for. For Montreal businesses, this translates to: - **Local Keyword Research**: You need to understand the terms Montreal residents use when searching for [mention relevant services – e.g., web design, digital marketing, SEO for restaurants]. Forget generic keywords – think about local phrases and demographics. - **Geo-Targeted Content**: Montreal residents are particularly interested in local businesses. Content like blog posts about “Best [Service] in Montreal,” “Montreal SEO Trends,” or “Local Business Directories” will significantly boost visibility within the city. - **Mobile Optimization – Crucial for Montreal:** A significant portion of Montreal residents access the internet primarily through mobile devices. Ensure your website is flawlessly responsive and loads quickly on mobile devices – it’s a critical factor in local search rankings. - **Understanding Montreal’s Unique Landscape**: Consider factors like the city’s cultural identity and preferred online channels. Are residents more likely to use Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn? ## **Exploring Geographic SEO – Ranking Locally in Montreal** Geographic SEO helps you show up higher in local search results for people searching within Montreal. It goes beyond just location; it incorporates the surrounding area. For Montreal businesses, this means: - **Local Keyword Targeting**: Utilize terms like “Web Design Montreal,” “SEO Services Montreal,” “Restaurant Marketing Montreal,” or “Real Estate Agents Montreal.” - **Google My Business Optimization (GMB)**: A fully optimized GMB profile is absolutely vital. Ensure all details – address, hours, photos – are accurate and current. Encourage reviews! - **Local Citations**: List your business with relevant local directories – Yelp, Yellow Pages, Chamber of Commerce, and neighborhood-specific directories. - **Schema Markup**: Implement schema markup to provide search engines with more context about your business, location, and services. - **Understanding Montreal’s Neighborhood Dynamics**: Are there specific neighborhoods that your target audience frequents? Tailor your content and GMB profile to resonate with those communities. ## **Why Red Dream Studios Can Help** Navigating the Montreal market requires a strategic approach. By understanding AEO and leveraging Geographic SEO, you can ensure your business is visible to the right people, driving more business opportunities. Red Dream Studios is dedicated to supporting businesses in Montreal with tailored strategies and expert guidance. --- ### Is Your Website Ready for 2026? URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/is-your-website-ready-for-2026/ ## **What Small Businesses Need to Know to Stay Relevant, Visible, and Competitive** Your website has always been important—but in 2026, it’s no longer just a marketing asset. It’s your **primary trust signal**, your **AI-assisted sales engine**, and often the deciding factor between someone choosing you—or moving on in seconds. After working with 500+ entrepreneurs and small businesses, one truth is impossible to ignore: the gap between modern, adaptive websites and outdated ones has never been wider. So let’s talk honestly—**is your website truly ready for 2026?** - ### ** Speed, Performance, and Stability Are Table Stakes** In 2026, users don’t just expect fast websites—they expect **effortless experiences**. What’s changed since 2025: - Google now heavily favors **consistent performance over time**, not just raw speed - Core Web Vitals penalties hit harder for unstable layouts and slow interactions - Hosting quality and backend optimization matter more than flashy visuals A site that *sometimes* performs well is no longer good enough. **What to do:** Modern WordPress builds must be lean, well-maintained, and hosted intelligently. Performance is no longer a one-time optimization—it’s an ongoing discipline. - ### ** Mobile-First Has Become Mobile-Dominant** Mobile traffic didn’t just increase—it **overtook decision-making**. In 2026: - Most discovery, comparison, and first contact happens on mobile - Visitors judge credibility within seconds—often before scrolling - Accessibility, spacing, and clarity matter more than dense content **What to do:** Design for the *smallest screen first*, then enhance for desktop—not the other way around. Simplicity now converts better than complexity. - ### ** AI Is Embedded—Not Experimental** In 2025, businesses were *testing* AI. In 2026, AI is simply **part of the stack**. What’s changed: - AI-assisted content is everywhere—making originality critical - Search engines prioritize **experience, authority, and clarity** - AI-powered tools now support: Smarter on-site search - Content personalization - Workflow automation - Customer support and lead qualification At Red Dream Studios, we’ve moved beyond “AI features” and instead focus on **AI-enhanced outcomes**—where technology supports strategy, creativity, and usability without replacing human insight. **What to do:** If your website isn’t evolving alongside AI—but instead ignoring it or overusing it—you’re likely falling behind in both performance and trust. - ### ** Search Is No Longer Just Google** One of the biggest shifts in 2026? **People don’t search in just one place anymore.** Today, discovery happens across: - Traditional search engines - AI-powered assistants and summaries - Social platforms - Voice and conversational interfaces Your website must now: - Answer questions clearly and directly - Be structured for AI-readable content - Demonstrate expertise and real-world experience **What to do:** SEO in 2026 is about *being understandable to both humans and machines*—clear structure, helpful content, and real authority matter more than keyword stuffing ever did. - ### ** Accessibility, Compliance, and Trust Are Non-Negotiable** Accessibility has moved from “recommended” to **expected**. In 2026: - Accessibility lawsuits and compliance checks are increasing - Users expect inclusive, readable, navigable experiences - Trust signals matter more in an AI-saturated world This includes: - Clear messaging - Transparent services and pricing cues - Testimonials and social proof - Secure, up-to-date platforms **What to do:** An accessible, trustworthy website doesn’t just protect your business—it expands your reach and strengthens your brand reputation. - ### ** Content Must Be Useful, Human, and Intentional** AI-generated noise has flooded the internet. As a result, **useful clarity wins**. Your website content in 2026 should: - Answer real customer questions - Speak plainly and confidently - Reflect your values and expertise - Guide visitors toward action without pressure **What to do:** The best content today blends human storytelling, strategic structure, and selective AI support—never one without the others. - ### ** Your Website Is a Living System—Not a One-Time Project** In 2026, the biggest mistake we still see is treating websites as static builds. Modern websites must: - Evolve with your business - Integrate with marketing tools and workflows - Support long-term growth and optimization - Be reviewed and refined regularly If your website hasn’t been meaningfully updated in the last 2–3 years, it’s almost certainly underperforming—quietly. **So… Is Your Website Ready for 2026?** If you’re unsure, you’re in good company. Most business owners are focused on running their business—not tracking every digital shift. That’s where we come in. At Red Dream Studios, we take a **client-first, soup-to-nuts approach**—blending strategy, design, development, content, and emerging technology into websites that don’t just look good, but *work hard*. We help businesses move from **dream → mission → successful launch**, with ongoing support to keep them in orbit. ### **Ready to Prepare Your Website for What’s Next?** - [Explore our web design & development services](https://reddreamstudios.com/services/) - [Book a discovery call](https://reddreamstudios.com/contact/) Let’s make sure your website is ready—not just for today, but for where your business is going next. --- ### The Hidden Costs of a Bad Website: How Outdated Design Quietly Kills Revenue URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/the-hidden-costs-of-a-bad-website-how-outdated-design-quietly-kills-revenue/ Most business leaders understand the value of a website, but far fewer realize how much an *outdated* one quietly drains revenue. It doesn’t happen with alarms or flashing red lights — it happens subtly, slowly, and often invisibly. By the time a company notices the symptoms (declining leads, lower engagement, rising support tickets, shrinking credibility), the damage is already done. A bad website isn’t just an aesthetic problem. It’s a **business problem**. Below is a breakdown of the hidden costs decision‑makers often overlook — and how a strategic partner like **Red Dream Studios** helps companies stop the bleeding and turn their website into a revenue engine. ## **1. Lost Credibility in the First 3 Seconds** Modern buyers make snap judgments. Research shows users form an opinion about your brand in under three seconds — and outdated design signals: - Low professionalism - Low trust - Low value Decision‑makers know this instinctively: if a company’s website looks neglected, they assume the business is too. **Hidden Cost:** Lost opportunities before a visitor even scrolls. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** Red Dream Studios builds modern, credibility‑driven websites that instantly communicate trust, authority, and professionalism. Clean design, strong visual hierarchy, and brand‑aligned storytelling ensure visitors stay long enough to convert. ## **2. Poor User Experience That Pushes Customers Away** Slow load times, confusing navigation, broken links, and cluttered layouts frustrate users. They leave — and they don’t come back. Even worse, frustrated users often turn to competitors who offer a smoother experience. **Hidden Cost:** High bounce rates, abandoned carts, and lost lifetime value. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** With a focus on UX best practices, Red Dream Studios optimizes every touchpoint — from page speed to mobile responsiveness — ensuring visitors can find what they need effortlessly. The result is a frictionless experience that keeps users engaged and moving toward action. ## **3. Lower Search Engine Rankings (and Fewer Organic Leads)** Google rewards websites that are fast, mobile‑friendly, and technically sound. Outdated sites often fail on all three fronts. That means: - Lower rankings - Less visibility - Fewer inbound leads - Higher reliance on paid ads **Hidden Cost:** Paying more for traffic you could have earned organically. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** Red Dream Studios integrates SEO‑driven architecture, clean code, and optimized content structures that help websites rank higher and stay competitive. You get more organic traffic without increasing your ad spend. ## **4. Inefficient Internal Operations** A bad website doesn’t just frustrate customers — it frustrates your team. Common issues include: - Outdated CMS systems - Hard‑to-update content - Manual processes that should be automated - Increased customer support inquiries **Hidden Cost:** Wasted staff hours and operational inefficiency. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** By building scalable, easy-to-manage websites, Red Dream Studios reduces internal friction. Automated workflows, intuitive content management, and smart integrations free your team to focus on higher‑value work. ## **5. Missed Conversion Opportunities** A website without clear calls to action, persuasive messaging, or strategic design leaves money on the table. Even small issues — like poorly placed buttons or unclear value propositions — can slash conversion rates. **Hidden Cost:** Lower revenue from the same amount of traffic. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** Red Dream Studios uses conversion‑focused design, persuasive copy, and data‑backed layout strategies to turn visitors into leads and leads into customers. Every page is engineered to drive action. ## **6. Falling Behind Competitors** Your competitors are investing in modern digital experiences. If your website looks dated, customers assume your business is too. In competitive industries, perception *is* reality. **Hidden Cost:** Losing market share without realizing it. **How Red Dream Studios Helps:** Red Dream Studios conducts competitive audits to identify gaps and opportunities, then builds a website that positions your brand as the superior choice. You don’t just catch up — you leap ahead. ## **The Real Cost of a Bad Website? Far More Than a Redesign.** When you add up the hidden losses — credibility, conversions, SEO, efficiency, and competitive positioning — the cost of an outdated website often exceeds tens of thousands of dollars over time. A modern, strategic website isn’t an expense. It’s an investment in revenue, reputation, and long‑term growth. ## **How Red Dream Studios Transforms Websites Into Revenue Engines** Red Dream Studios specializes in helping businesses: - Modernize outdated websites - Improve user experience and accessibility - Strengthen brand identity and storytelling - Increase conversions and lead quality - Boost search rankings - Streamline internal workflows - Stand out in competitive markets With a blend of creative direction, technical expertise, and business strategy, Red Dream Studios doesn’t just build websites — it builds digital assets that work as hard as you do. If your website is quietly costing you revenue, now is the perfect time to fix it. If so, **newsletter marketing** might be the solution you’ve been looking for. Newsletters are a type of email marketing that allows you to send regular updates and information to a list of subscribers. This can include news about your business, industry insights, special promotions, and more. One of the key benefits of newsletter marketing is that it allows you to **reach a targeted audience** of people who have already expressed an interest in your business. By subscribing to your newsletter, these individuals have indicated that they want to receive updates from you, making them more likely to engage with your content. Newsletters are also a great way to **build a relationship with your audience**. By providing valuable information and staying in touch on a regular basis, you can establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry and create a sense of community among your subscribers. Another advantage of newsletter marketing is that it’s **relatively inexpensive** compared to other forms of marketing. Most email marketing platforms, such as [Mailchimp](https://mailchimp.com/), offer a range of pricing options, making it easy to find a plan that fits your budget, and may even provide a **free service** depending on the size of your subscriber audience. Of course, for newsletter marketing to be effective, it’s important to **create high-quality content** that resonates with your audience. This can include a mix of text, images, and links to other relevant content. It’s also crucial to follow best practices for email marketing, such as using a clear and concise subject line, segmenting your list to ensure that you’re sending relevant content to the right people, and including a clear call to action. At Red Dream Studios, we’ve partnered with several of our clients to produce weekly and bi-weekly email blasts on a retainer basis, which is an incredibly cost-effective means of customer engagement. While there’s no hard and fast rule for how often a WordPress website should be redesigned, many experts recommend a refresh every 3-5 years. Here are a few reasons why it’s a good idea to consider a redesign at this interval: - **Technology advances quickly:** A website that was designed just a few years ago may be using outdated technologies or design elements that are no longer effective or efficient. For example, older sites may not be mobile-friendly or may not have responsive design, which can negatively impact user experience and search engine rankings. Redesigning your site can help you take advantage of newer technologies and design practices, which can improve the functionality and performance of your site. - **Security threats evolve:** Hackers and cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to compromise websites, and it’s important to keep your site up to date with the latest security measures to protect against these threats. Redesigning your site can give you the opportunity to implement new security features and practices, such as two-factor authentication and SSL certificates, to keep your site and your users safe. - **Your business may have changed:** As your business grows and evolves, your website should reflect these changes. A redesign can help you update your site to better reflect your current products, services, and target audience. It can also give you the opportunity to streamline your site’s navigation and improve its overall user experience. - **Visual appeal matters:** A website that looks dated or unappealing can turn off potential customers and clients. A redesign can help you refresh your site’s visual aesthetic and make it more appealing to users. This can help you stand out in a crowded online market and attract more visitors to your site. Overall, redesigning your WordPress website every 3-5 years can help you keep your site up to date, secure, and visually appealing, all of which are important for attracting and retaining visitors. While it’s important to consider the cost and time involved in a redesign, the benefits can far outweigh the investment. --- ### Why You Need to Refresh Your Website in 2023 URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/marketing-en/why-you-need-to-refresh-your-website-in-2023/ As we enter 2023, it’s important to consider whether or not it’s time to refresh your website. While it can be tempting to let your website remain unchanged for long periods of time, there are several compelling reasons why you should consider giving your website a refresh in the new year. - **Improved user experience:** As technology and design trends evolve, so do user expectations. By updating your website to meet current standards, you can provide a better user experience for your visitors. This can help increase engagement and conversions on your site. - **Enhanced security:** Cybersecurity threats are constantly evolving, and it’s important to ensure that your website is secure to protect both your business and your users. Updating your website can help you stay ahead of potential threats and keep your site safe. - **Improved search engine ranking:** Search engines like Google periodically update their algorithms to better understand and rank websites. By refreshing your website, you can make sure that it is optimized for these updates and continues to rank well in search results. - **Brand consistency:** As your business grows and evolves, it’s important to make sure that your website reflects your current brand identity. A website refresh can help ensure that your website is consistent with your brand and accurately reflects your business. - **Stay competitive:** Your website is often the first point of contact between your business and potential customers. By keeping your website up-to-date, you can stay competitive and ensure that you’re making the best possible impression on visitors. Overall, there are many reasons why you should consider refreshing your website in 2023. By ensuring that your website is modern, secure, and consistent with your brand, you can provide a better user experience, improve your search engine ranking, and stay competitive in your industry. --- ### 5 Reasons Your Small Business Needs Content Marketing URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/marketing-en/5-reasons-your-small-business-needs-content-marketing/ During the summer months, businesses typically go into a brief “hibernation” period of relaxation and vacations. But it’s important to use this time to drive new sales to ramp yourself up for the Fall season. The best way to keep engaged with your clientele is through content marketing. Content marketing means consistently creating and distributing information that is valuable and relevant to those people within a small business’s target audience. Keep on reading to learn **5 reasons your small business needs content marketing**. - **Boosts brand awareness**Consistency is a key ingredient to a successful content marketing strategy. This means publishing fresh content at a regular frequency, creating many opportunities for a target market to see the company’s name. Your brand becomes familiar to them, and you’ll be top-of-mind the next time they need your services. Want an easy way to do this? Send out an email blast (like this one). - **Builds an identity as a trusted expert**If there are 10 plumbers in a town but only one provides helpful information that educates the community about plumbing maintenance, problems, options and innovations, that brand will stand out as the expert. By doing this, a brand is demonstrating its expertise, so prospective customers need not question or research its know-how. Since this small business is helping consumers without getting paid for this advice, it will also earn a reputation of being trustworthy. - **Encourages your customer to take action**When consumers need to spend money or make time for a service, it’s natural to procrastinate. However, once a consumer gets clear answers to his or her questions, or hears a story that he or she can relate to, that person could finally be motivated to make a purchase or schedule an appointment. Producing content that guides a consumer through the buyer’s journey (awareness, evaluation and purchase) results in more sales. - **Sharable content brings people in the door**Creating a steady stream of fresh information on a variety of topics opens several avenues to drive traffic to a website — through search, social media, traditional media and more — which ultimately results in phone calls, orders or foot traffic. Covering unique, timely and seasonal topics will interest a broader audience and encourage repeat visitors. It also boosts ranking in search results, making it more likely that potential customers will find your small business before one of your competitors. - **Keeps your website fresh**A website often will be a consumer’s first impression of your business. A stagnant, stale website is less interesting and less professional than one with updated content that changes regularly. Undecided consumers who are researching their options might check out a website and social media presence more than once. When they come back, seeing something new and relevant makes their visit a better experience — and shows that the brand is a professional organization. --- ### 5 Web Design Trends You Can Expect in 2018 URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/5-web-design-trends-you-can-expect-in-2018/ The creative world of web design is always changing for the better with new tools, functionalities, and workflows emerging to take center stage. Last year saw some promising web design tools such as [chatbots](https://blog.resellerclub.com/build-a-bot-for-your-business-today/), web animations and conversational interfaces come into play. It’s time to start thinking about the web design trends that are bound to be strong front-runners to dominate this year’s web design space. Here are the popular web design trends we’ve compiled for 2018. ### **Rich Vibrant Colours** Colour is one of the most stimulating tools in a web designer’s toolkit. Colour helps set the tone of the website and attract every visitor’s attention. With web designers getting more experimental, 2018 will surely witness richer, sharper, bolder and more vibrant colours taking the limelight. This is strongly supported with latest technological advancements that have enabled device screens to reproduce ultra-high definition and 4K resolutions. Check out the rich colour palette we used in creating the website for [Cancer Fight Club](https://cancerfightclub.com/). ### **More Animation** Pegged to be a brand’s strength in the digital world, animation helps convey more information in a way that is attractive and easily ingestible in a matter of seconds. Animation improves website design as it adds character to a brand and contributes invaluably to storytelling. For example, we recently teamed up with [Cirkus Animation](http://cirkusanimation.com/) to produce an animated short video to promote the benefits flea and tick medication for Zoetis. ### **Custom Illustrations** 2017 saw numerous websites using illustrations and this trend is only set to become more prominent. Illustrations are a brilliant way to add flare and breathe life into plain jane websites usually characterized with dry content. Furthermore, they don’t hamper the functionality and, instead, serve as an effective avenue for presenting information. Brands can use custom illustrations as a strong design element to spruce up their website and therefore, they make for an interesting web design element to lookout for in 2018. ### **Animated CSS** 2018 will witness [CSS animations](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/CSS_Animations/Using_CSS_animations) take over the ‘party piece’ throne from video. As super engaging as it is, video takes up too many resources and doesn’t offer the same visual experience on every device. This means that the primary message of the video often gets missed. On the other hand, animated CSS is dynamic and can be customized for every device type. This makes CSS animations an efficient tool that will surely take charge in 2018. ### **Bold Typography** For any website, typography is a very strong visual tool to grab eyeballs, evoke emotion and impart information in an engaging fashion. With web designers shying away from web-safe vogues, 2018 is slated to be the year of custom font selection and bold typography trends. Experts suggest that web designers will make smarter choices in choosing typefaces and serif and sans serif fonts will make a comeback this year. PS: Those of you reading this who are in the design/marketing field will appreciate the flagrant use of Comic Sans in the header… Definitely NOT a trendy font (a fact I recently pointed out to a client). --- ### Treat Twitter like a Relationship URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/business-en/treat-twitter-like-a-relationship/ With the recent change to your Twitter account, now opening up the ability to tweet 280 characters (up from its original 140 — which I believe is a direct result of Donald Trump’s insatiable appetite for this social media platform), many will be thinking about how to fill up this freedom of space with more interesting content to attract an audience, sell product, or promote services. If you’re unsure about how to effectively use Twitter, it’s important to treat it like a relationship. Here’s a few suggestions to make the most of your affair with Twitter: ### Compliments So you just got another Twitter follower. You thank them and maybe compliment their site or service, but then what? Just like in a relationship don’t forget to compliment the other person, no matter how long you’ve been together. Make sure it’s a sincere compliment and don’t overdo it. It can be as simple as telling someone you enjoyed their article or congratulating a company on an anniversary or upcoming event. These may seem like small gestures but it’s amazing how much they get overlooked. ### Love the one you’re with While hoping for more and more followers you might tend to neglect your loyal followers who have been there from the beginning. Make sure and acknowledge how much you appreciate them by staying active and engaged to their content. ### We never talk anymore One way to lose interest in your business is by not responding to even the smallest inquiry. Make sure you are responding to all messages and all mentions. Would you ignore a customer that had a complaint or an issue that came into your store or office? Treat Twitter interactions the same way. Don’t underestimate the power of good customer service. ### Make each other laugh Not every tweet has to be a serious one. Funny tweets or links to funny posts can be a great way to foster your social media presence. Again, this can be overdone relatively quickly and you want to make sure you keep them business appropriate. ### You’re not my type at all In a relationship, you want to find someone that shares your common interests and goals. The same should be applied to social media. People are more willing to share when it’s applicable to them and it pertains to what they are personally interested in. ### Don’t let yourself go Your Twitter page should be an accurate portrayal of your company and its image. Don’t neglect to update graphics, change backgrounds and keep the overall look fresh. Make sure that you create custom background images & avatars, to ensure yours is unique to only you. ### Don’t insult the ex All your tweets should be professional and as positive as possible. Don’t complain about another business or insult any of your competition. It makes you and the company look bad. Plus customers might think twice before doing business with you after they see how you treat other businesses. --- ### 6 Reasons Why You Should Invest In A New Website Design URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/seo-en/6-reasons-why-you-should-invest-in-a-new-website-design/ No matter the size of your business, your company needs a professional website. Some can spend millions creating brochures and distributing them. By having a website you can skip that entirely. Your potential customers can find out about you and any of your products online. If you get most of your business through networking and personal connections, then they will want to check out your website. However, it’s important to realize that just building a website and leaving it dormant over the years isn’t good enough. It’s just like your car – it must be maintained and tuned up over time, or it risks conking out while you take it for a spin, or simply not starting at all. Websites aren’t fire-and-forget entities, and here are some reasons why: ### **1. Google** The primary way the majority of your customers will find you is by searching for your product and/or services, so positioning yourself as high as possible in search result ranking is pretty important. The easiest way for your website to “disappear” from Google is by appearing dormant and irrelevant – websites typically have a shelf-life (or “best before date”) of about 3 years. Google loves websites that are alive and timely, since the content there is more likely appealing to the people searching for it. By refreshing your site every couple of years, it keeps you top of mind in the eyes of Google, and consequently your clientele! ### **2. Shows you still exist** If your website looks like it was built in the 1990’s, people who may happen to land on it will wonder whether or not you are still in business. Your website should be optimized to turn visitors into leads, and with the human attention span being only about 7 seconds, a weak or antiquated design will not be able to convey very much information about what you do and what the site is all about. ### **3. Shows a willingness to invest in yourself** People are naturally attracted to good looks — it’s a biological and Darwinian form of survival. This applies to website and your corporate image as well. If your company appears to be willing to spend marketing dollars promoting itself and its public-facing collateral, it shows you are serious about what you do. This dedication to public perception will undoubtedly translate to the service you provides to its clients – if you are willing to invest in yourself, I am more likely to believe you will invest in me too. ### **4. Shows you’re in touch with your clients** Content – often left as the last piece of the puzzle in a web design project – is actually one of the most important elements of your website. Words go a long way in presenting what you do or what you are selling. If your messaging is no longer relevant or behind the curve, people will suspect that you no longer listen to your clients or don’t have anything interesting to offer. ### **5. Shows you can adapt to trends** Social media has revolutionized marketing in a massive way. It has completely changed the way people shop, refer, and influence. Your new website can be the centrepiece that brings a thorough digital marketing strategy all together. For example, the best way to show that you’re engaged with your audience and in tune with what they want is by embracing social media and integrating it into your website. Create videos to promote yourself or your service, or offer how-to tips & tricks, and then integrate those into your website as well. [And don’t forget to blog](https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/the-benefits-of-business-blogging-ht)! ### **6. You aren’t mobile-friendly or are using outdated technology** Technology changes at a rapid click. Did you know that it’s been 6 years since [Apple decided to not support Adobe Flash](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoughts_on_Flash) on its company’s iOS hardware products? For those of you who are still using Flash on your websites, that content simply won’t load on any Apple device. I’ve still come across entire websites built with Flash, so anyone trying to browse them on an iPhone, for example, will simply see, well, nothing! Your new site should be rebuilt to support the latest trends in technology, such as responsiveness (automatically adapting to the browser being used to view the site), well-formed code, and speed. ### **Conclusion** If the roof of your home looks like it might leak during the next heavy rainfall, you don’t wait till it does, right? You should either repair or replace before tragedy sets in… Waiting too long is often costlier than had you been proactive, as opposed to reactive. We at [Red Dream Studios](https://reddreamstudios.com/) have built hundreds of websites and would love the opportunity to makeover yours! --- ### 6 Reasons Your Small Business Needs a Website URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/seo-en/6-reasons-your-small-business-needs-a-website/ There is a retail apocalypse taking place in the U.S. and Canada. Foot traffic is down in malls across the continent, transforming many shopping centres into retail graveyards. There have been [hundreds of store closures this year](http://clark.com/shopping-retail/major-retailers-closing-2017/), including brands like Sears, Macy’s, Target (Canada), KMart, J.C. Penney, and RadioShack that were once anchors of the brick-and-mortar world. Retailers are closing stores because they’re not giving people what they want in terms of things like price, fashion and selection. Shoppers are increasingly turning to online and discount merchants for better deals, especially during “events” like Black Friday and Cyber Monday where many of the best sales occur exclusively online. With the competition beginning to thin out, **now is the best time** to take assertive action, especially if you’ve been on the fence about launching a website — and here are some reasons why: ### **1. It establishes credibility.** A [2015 study](https://www.score.org/resource/infographic-5-reasons-your-small-business-needs-website) performed by Verisign reported that 84% consumers believe that small businesses with websites are more credible than ones who are not online. Moreso, the study also concluded that 65% of consumers consider a [company branded email](https://www.linkedin.com/post/edit/power-email-marketing-neal-evan-caminsky) to be more credible than one from a generic email account such as Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo. If all your competitors have websites and your business doesn’t, who do you think looks more credible? Personally, I chose my own wedding photographer largely because his online presence in 2003 looked more polished, thought-out, and presented his portfolio more beautifully than others. If he was willing to invest in himself in that way, I thought, he would be willing to invest in me too. ### 2. Be found. Period. The same study by Verisign also reported that 9 out of 10 consumers rely on the internet to locate and evaluate local goods and services. Many clients I work with will Google their own websites to go to their home pages as opposed to typing out the address. It’s therefore difficult to understand why [46% of small businesses do not have a website](http://www.smallbusinesscomputing.com/News/Marketing/nearly-half-of-u.s.-small-businesses-dont-have-a-website.html). An even smaller percentage have company Facebook pages (which costs nothing to build and maintain). But for those that do, they enjoy a clear advantage of being found. With over [3.5 billion Google searches](http://www.internetlivestats.com/google-search-statistics/) occurring each day, if someone is searching for your products and/or services, they are either finding you, or your competitors. Business websites allow potential customers to access your business and learn about your products and services 24/7, letting you sell product while you’re sleeping. ### 3. Become relatable. Customers are less and less likely to pick up the phone and call your business to learn more about you and your products. A website, in conjunction with social media, is becoming the primary way retailers now connect with their audience. By using these platforms to tell a story, usually by establishing a brand persona, it can create a relationship that can easily go viral and personalises your small business experience. Moreover, without an online presence, you can’t take advantage of social influence marketing (SIM), where people who like your services will often refer your business to others when seeking recommendations on social media. ### 4. Be flexible. Traditional advertising, such as printed posters, brochures, and radio tend to be costly. Printed items can’t be updated, so they end up in the garbage when obsolete. Now more than ever, customers expect to see fresh marketing campaigns and information on a continuous basis. Small business websites allow for demographic information, services offered, business hours, and pricing to be edited at any time for no cost — and it’s easy to push and promote inventory given real-world situations such as weather conditions, or time of day. Web developers will (or should) create sites that are mobile-friendly, letting customers enjoy a user-friendly browsing experience while they are on-the-go. ### 5. It’s a sales tool. Although a small business website serves many purposes, the main objectives are: - To inform - To engage - To convert The most effective ways to use a business website to this end is to provide high quality information, learn about who your audience is, what they want, and create a sales funnel that nurtures them through the sales process. In conjunction with other tools such as Google Analytics and social media, you can see where traffic is coming from, how they found out about you, and then target those customers with specific messaging. ### 6. It lets you expand. Maybe your business is a brick and mortar business that would like to expand to a larger market. Being online lets you benefit from making your products or services available worldwide. Having a website for your business is a “must have” and not just a “nice to have” element of being in business. Not having a website puts your business at a competitive disadvantage. --- ### 6 Reasons Why Customer Service Means Everything URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/business-en/6-reasons-why-customer-service-means-everything/ Recently, my company, Red Dream Studios, was awarded a prestigious mandate to revamp [The Lord Reading Society](http://lordreading.org/) website. While this post isn’t being written to promote or laud on this fact, one of the primary *reasons *for being selected is. Throughout our 16 year history, our small but mighty company has gone out of its way to provide the utmost care and dedication to our clients. The majority of the testimonials we’ve received attest to this, which can mean only one thing — it’s one of the most important factors that clients consider when choosing to work with a service provider. **1. It builds trust** Now more than ever, people will only stay loyal to a company or brand if they have very good reason to. Social media adds an extra level of potential toxicity — social influence marketing (known as SIM) can help you sink or swim. For example, negative restaurant reviews by your peers will make you think twice about going out for dinner. By providing the best in customer service, you will increase trust, and that could mean the difference between customer loyalty and customers who jump ship. **2. It shows you’re ethical** Similar businesses will compete for the same set of customers. It’s the law of nature. But not always. If you are a smaller company, you can try to establish strategic partnerships with a larger firm who doesn’t want to get involved with smaller projects. You may offer a particular set of skills that are not present in the larger firm. By receiving referrals and *returning the favour in kind*, you’re not only becoming a reliable resource but you’re making the larger company look good. **3. Clients are willing to pay more for good customer service** Studies have repeatedly shown that to get the right experience, they are willing to pay more. No one wants to deal with a service provider who is negligent, never around, or takes weeks to respond to an email. Clients are ingratiated the most by transparency, accountability, and timely responsiveness. Doesn’t everyone want to feel like they’re important? **4. It builds brand awareness** For small businesses, word of mouth is *the *most sales tool in your arsenal. By far. You often don’t have the time or resources to go out there and sell, so by having a team of virtual sales champions who will attest to your abilities and think about you when an opportunity comes around is what will propagate your business. When you provide the best in customer service, people will talk about you. (They will also talk about you if the converse if true!) **5. It alleviates conflicts** When you are a service-based provider, there will undoubtedly be times when you and the client don’t see eye-to-eye on things. Sometimes the scope of the project may change over time, or the client becomes picky with what you are delivering. By managing expectations and being honest and transparent throughout the process, often you will find that you can diminish any client anxieties and even be able to negotiate some extra compensation for extra work that may arise mid-stream. Again, the goal here is for the client to perceive that you are bending over backwards to meet their needs. **6. It appeals to the customer** In the age digital relationships and instant gratification, customers expect to be treated as a person (and are often surprised when they are!). Wanting more from the experience, they don’t want to be seen as a number, as an obstacle, or simply a means to shove cash into your bank account. Personal relationship building goes a very long way. And it’s much easier to get recurring work from an existing client than to spend time trying to find new ones. Better customer service will ensure you are providing them what they want. When it comes to your business, offering amazing customer service is the most attractive quality you can exude. By keeping the 6 points above in mind when dealing with clientele, you will undoubtedly enjoy the positive results. --- ### The Power of Email Marketing URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/power-email-marketing/ An often overlooked tool in a brand’s digital marketing arsenal is the good ol’ newsletter. Usually regarded as the equivalent of junk mail from the post office, when done effectively however, newsletter marketing can be an **effective **way to keep one’s brand top-of-mind for consumers, establishing oneself as an expert, and notifying readers of products and sales that may interest them. ### **How to measure success** The golden rule of marketing is ROI (return on investment). Newsletters need to have a measurable impact on your business, but initially however, it may not translate into bankable dollars. Immediate impact of a newsletter campaign will mean: - Increase in number of subscribers - Eyeballs who’ve read the newsletter, measured by open rate - (Potential) customers who’ve completed a desired action (typically a visit to the website), measured by click-through rate - (Actual) customers who make a purchase ### **The most effective newsletters are informational, not sales-driven** With everyone trying to simultaneously sell you a pen, you need to find a way to get customers to open and read an email. To do this, the content should be genuinely interesting – beyond an attempt to sell them merchandise or services. **It all starts with an effective subject line.** A successful campaign starts with a subject line that grabs the attention of your subscribers. Good subject lines are often personal or descriptive, and give the recipient a reason to check out your content. If you’re not giving your reader a compelling reason to open your email, it will get deleted (or not even make it past a spam filter) immediately. According to [Mailchimp](http://www.mailchimp.com/), the best way to create an effective is to: - Add personalization with each recipient’s name or location - Be descriptive by being direct and descriptive than trendy - Count characters – those who may read your campaigns on mobile devices, shorter may be better ### **Establish yourself as an expert in your particular field** Newsletters give businesses an opportunity to demonstrate authority and expertise on the subject of their products and/or services. This is your forum to tell subscribers why something is worthwhile, why some styles are popular, or a to provide more information about your brand. People like to be informed and educated — not necessarily sold to. Newsletters can give readers a reason to trust you and also tell a story that brings more personality to your brand. According to BigCommerce, customers with a strong attachment to a particular company spend 23% more than average consumers, and the newsletter is a way to distinguish a brand from the competition. ### **The 90-10 Rule** While there’s a famous [80-20 rule](https://holykaw.alltop.com/understanding-the-8020-rule-infographic?tu4=1) in sales and marketing, there’s a 90-10 rule for newsletters. What this rule states is that 90% of your newsletter should be comprised of information, whereas only 10% should be sales-related. With the right balance, less is more and the educational material will eventually lead to more sales. That being said, every newsletter should have a strong call to action to be performed by the reader. Do you want the reader to visit your website? Do you want them to sign up for a promotion? Finally, part of the 10% rule can be to offer an incentive, to either visit you in your brick-and-mortar store, or your online store. Nowadays, it’s even harder to drive traffic to a physical location, so part of a newsletter strategy can be to have people carry the newsletter to a store to redeem a coupon. With compelling and beautifully designed content, recurring newsletters to your subscribers can keep them engaged and sold to, at minimal cost. --- ### Evolution of a Logo - Case Study URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/evolution-of-a-logo-case-study/ Tanya Toledano, the Founder of montrealmom.com, conceived of the company many years ago when her husband, family and friends started to refer to her as “Tanya 411” due to the parenting and lifestyle questions she would get on a regular basis. After realizing that the information she had collected through her own research and practical experience would be best archived as a series of pages online, she began to seek out a website and branding development company to work with to realize her vision. As fate would have it, Tanya was referred to Neal Caminsky, the Founder of Red Dream Studios and they met at a Tim Hortons in the West Island (September 22, 2008 to be exact). According to Tanya, when she met with Neal, after having met with several other candidates previously, she knew that he understood her vision and goals with the site and its brand, and instantly felt a connection with him. The process of developing a logo for montrealmom.com soon commenced. The initial idea was to incorporate a kangaroo into the logo, as it’s a highly recognizable symbol of motherhood and nurturing. This initial concept was first conceived of, and was initially well-received. But the colours didn’t appeal to Tanya as they were too soft and pastel-like, nor did the block-serif font for the tagline. The next round of changes incorporated several different 2-tone colour palettes that were more vivid and worked well together. But the head of the kangaroo just didn’t seem right. The font of the tagline was also changed to a sans-serif font (News Gothic), while interestingly enough, the font of the company name, Port Credit, never swayed from the initial concept. At the suggestion of Tanya and her daughter, they wanted to see a version of the kangaroo with its head looking forward with a set of “smiling eyes.” In order to achieve this effect, inspiration was drawn from the eyes of the robot, Eve, from the Pixar film “Wall-E.” Ultimately, though, the versions of the kangaroo with the head in profile was preferred, but the “smile” definitely needed to be incorporated, be it through the eyes, or with a grin. It should be noted that kangaroos don’t actually smile, so it was difficult to conceptualize what the shape of its mouth should look like. We tried to make the smile even bigger. But ultimately, the addition of the open mouth didn’t make the kangaroo look happy, but instead sly and devious. Above, the final version of the logo. The mouth was removed and the head softened and rounded overall. The beaned-crescent shape for the smiling eye was kept from the previous version. The logo was well-received by the client and has been in use ever since, taking only a few weeks from initial conception to achieve the final result. --- ### 5 SEO Tips to Improve your website's ranking URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/5-seo-tips-to-improve-your-websites-ranking/ So you’ve hired a designer/developer to produce your website (or dare I say it, did it yourself). But now, how do you bring people to it? Most will start by searching for the product or service that you offer, and the holy grail of online marketing is to appear as close to the top of Google’s and Bing’s search results page as possible. Part of the equation is “Search Engine Optimization” or SEO. While there is no way to guarantee that your site will rank first on Google, there are a few simple things you can do to increase your site’s chances of ranking real well. ### **Choose the right URL** Before your website goes live, you need to select a URL. Also known as your domain name, it’s the address that visitors will type in to find your site. Like the giant sign above a storefront window, it’s one of the first things visitors see when they come to your site. That’s why it’s also the first place Google looks to understand what your site is about and decide how to rank it. The ideal domain will include your business name and perhaps a keyword or two that are relevant to your business. For example, if you are a photographer in Montreal, you might want to purchase a URL like www.montrealphotographer.com. It’s also important to make sure your URLs are free of special characters, numbers, and other bits of code that make the address of your site or pages within less “human-friendly.” ### **Create titles and descriptions for each page** Titles and descriptions can be written for each page on your website. These are brief texts that accurately and clearly describe what your business does, ideally with a few keywords and phrases mixed in. Ever hovered over a tab on your browser? That short phrase that pops up under your mouse is the title of the page. While the description is not visible, it too is very important for search engines. In fact, the title and description are among the first things Google uses to determine your site’s rank. Plus – once your site does show up in a search results page, web surfers will read your title and description to learn what your site is about and decide whether or not to check it out. ### **Utilize anchor text** As you write the text for your website, consider where you can use anchor text within your site. Anchor text is simply text that visitors can click on to be taken directly to another web page, either on your site (internal linking) or anywhere on the Internet (external linking). Effective anchor text should be used to help users navigate your website and find what they are looking for. It should also include keywords and phrases related to what you do. If you own a shoe store, for example, the words, “Check out our selection of children’s shoes,” on your homepage can link via anchor text to your online store that is stocked full children’s shoes. Anchor text is a great way to boost your SEO, but keep in mind that excessive linking or anchors that don’t really help your readers can raise red flags with Google. ### **Add alt text to all your images** Search engines are great at reading text on your website, but they still haven’t quite figured out how to look at the images on your site. To understand what’s displayed in a photo or graphic, search engines look for “alt(ernate) text,” a concise written description (just a few words) about each image on a website. When writing alt text, be sure to accurately describe what is shown in the image, but also try to include the name of your business or a few keywords related to what you do. ### **Connect your site to your social channels** Did you know that your Facebook page has an impact on how you rank on Google? In fact, being present (and active) on any social media site, from Twitter and Instagram to Facebook and Google+ is an essential part of boosting your SEO. When you create your website, make sure to include prominent icons for each of your social networks, linking directly to your profile on each site. You also want to make it easy for your visitors to share the content on your site. As users share your content, traffic to your website will increase and Google will take notice! Sites that generate a lot of social activity will come up more frequently in searches. ### **Final Thoughts** When I develop a WordPress-based website, I typically use the [SEO plugin from Yoast](http://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/). While there is a premium (paid) version of this, the free version does a great job of helping you implement all the changes above to help boost your website’s presence. --- ### Did you know you can lease a website? URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/website-design-en/did-you-know-you-can-lease-a-website/ Traditionally, when people think about leasing they think about leasing tangible products like cars, computer hardware and office equipment. One of the biggest challenges both **small and medium businesses** have, when it comes to getting a custom website developed is the affordability factor. Producing a professional website when including all the parts necessary for a successful online presence *can* be expensive. (Another hurdle many face is finding a trustworthy web partner to work with). As such, many entrepreneurs will resort to the do-it-yourself model, such as using a service like wix.com, to build their online presence without giving much thought for how the site is supposed to consistently deliver the brand’s message, generate leads or process transactions online in a secure and efficient manner, and will skimp on the important things that are critical to driving business to a website such as email marketing systems and website optimization. A bad website in both design and customer experience (ie: too many clicks, not the right information, broken links) can actually ***deter* **business instead of creating opportunities. So what’s a business to do when they obviously need to be able to compete effectively in the digital age without exhausting much needed working capital? The answer may be to **lease your website**. ### **Why Lease?** Leasing a website is very similar to paying a monthly subscription fee. Instead of paying a lump sum for your website up front or incurring setup fees, you pay a much lower monthly fee for a set period of time. Many companies, such as [Red Dream Studios](http://www.reddreamstudios.com/), offers website leases for 1, 2 & 3 year terms with the longer the lease term the lower the upfront costs. The advantages here work both ways. The client spends much less up front to build and develop their website, while the company providing this service can establish a long-term and trustworthy relationship with the client. Often, ***maintenance** *of the website once it’s built can also be included as part of the lease, so the client will know that anytime changes need to be made, they have an easy path to getting this done. (The good web companies will likely respond and carry out such requests within 24 hours of getting pinged). Want to know more about how website leasing can be advantageous to your company? Leave a comment below! --- ### How to get customers to engage with your business URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/how-to-get-customers-to-engage-with-your-business/ Here are a couple of quick pointers to keep in mind when trying to promote your (new) small business. With some effective online marketing, you can turn website visitors into loyal followers. ## Make sure your website has a contact form It’s becoming somewhat of a rarity that people will pick up the phone to enquire about your services. The fastest way to connect is via email and a contact form provides an easy way for people to reach out and engage with you. ## Send out newsletters Clients who visit your website should have a way to subscribe to a newsletter. Those who do are actively seeking to engage with you and find out more about your services, promotions, sales, what have you. Use a contact management system such as MailChimp or Constant Contact to engage with customers, or potential ones, on a frequent basis. Remember that customers tend to have short recall, so these “reminder” newsletters are a great way to keep your brand top of mind with your followers. ## Stay Consistent on Social It’s not enough to simply open up a page for your business on Facebook, you need to maintain active social media channels. If someone looks up your biz on Facebook and they see cobwebs on your page, they will likely move on. Come up with a regular posting schedule for any and all channels you have, and make sure to stick to it. Tip: don’t bite off more than you can chew. Starting with one exciting social media channel is more than enough for a small business. Better to be consistent and make a plan you can actually stick to, instead of one that’s impossible to execute. ## Be Kind. Be Courteous. Be Quick. Your (potential) clients expect answers, quickly. Responding to incoming emails within a few hours of receiving it is a prime way of indicating a couple of things about your brand — that you’re responsive, that you care enough to respond, and that you’re actively involved in caring for your clientele. The best way to show that you’re in business is *to show that you’re in business*. Take nothing for granted. --- ### Why I left a D-Level Job URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/blog/branding-en/why-i-left-a-d-level-job/ Founded in 2001, my company, Red Dream Studios, has been fortunate enough to have worked with over **200 entrepreneurs and businesses**. I’ve personally received **over 40** kudos and shout-outs on [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nealcaminsky#endorsements). Some of the relationships I have built have lasted longer than most marriages, and **every one** of our clients has been a valued partner and friend. In 2007, I had decided to take what was a side venture and take the leap into full-time entrepreneurship — and began operating Red Dream Studios 24/7 (as any entrepreneur will tell you, you leave, breathe, and eat your company). The company because a profitable success, achieving near 20% growth during its first 4 years, and between 5%-10% thereafter. There were peaks and valleys, of course. In 2014, I hit what seemed like the Grand Canyon of valleys, and I began to get a little nervous. As a sole proprietor, nothing hurts more than feeling like your company is failing and having no one around you to help figure out why. So I decided to explore if taking a hiatus was the answer — to help refocus and reinvigorate my career. Fortunately, there was an opportunity to return to the company that helped me become a seasoned Software Product Manager, X2O Media. Having had gained over 7 years of experience running Red Dream Studios full time, I was hired as the **Director of Product Marketing**. The knowledge I gained over the past 2+ years in this D-Level position was invaluable, particularly in the fields of content marketing, both online and off, and in many other areas of digital marketing. Having corporate benefits, group insurance, and a consistent source of income are life perks that are comforting and cannot be understated. Entrepreneurs will tell you there’s a certain appeal to being the head of your own show. Working with clients and helping pull off their projects (often at the last minute) provides a certain adrenaline rush that cannot be understated either. What I’ve learned during my hiatus can be summed up with one word — passion. As Yo-Yo Ma put it, “*Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks*.” So despite the relative security of a 9-5 job, I’ve discovered that operating Red Dream Studios is like not having a job at all. I’m **passionate** about it. So yes, I’m back. Do you see yourself making the same decision I did? --- ## Pages ### Thank You URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/thank-you/ We typically reply **within a few hours**, on business days. Here’s what it’s like to work with Red Dream Studios. [ Start your mission ](https://reddreamstudios.com/contact/#contact-form) [ Explore Our Services ](https://reddreamstudios.com/services/) ### 1. What makes Red Dream Studios different from other marketing and design agencies? Red Dream Studios isn’t just another creative shop, and you aren’t just another client We’re a one-stop mission control center for your brand. With 25 years of experience and having worked with over 500 companies, we combine creative design, technical know-how, and exceptional customer service to turn your dream into a lasting success story. Our customers become long-lasting partners in the journey. ### 2. Do you only work with businesses in Montreal? While we’re proudly based in the West Island borough of Montreal, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, our reach extends far beyond. We work with entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses across Canada — and even in other countries. Thanks to our virtual workflow, your location won’t hold your dream back. ### 3. What’s the first step in working with you? We begin with a Discovery Session — a conversation where we learn about your goals, challenges, and vision. From there, we outline a strategic plan for your website, marketing, or creative project, so you know exactly how we’ll bring your dream to life. ### 4. How long does a typical website project take? Most website design and development projects take **4–8 weeks**, depending on scope and complexity. We’ll create a clear timeline during the proposal phase so you always know what stage your mission is in. ### 5. Can you help me update or redesign my existing website? Absolutely. Whether your current site just needs a facelift or a complete overhaul, we can modernize it with improved design, performance, and SEO — giving your brand the fresh start it deserves. ### 6. Do you offer eCommerce website development? Yes! We design and develop eCommerce sites typically using **WordPress with WooCommerce**. We’ll help you set up secure payments, POS systems, product management, and a beautiful storefront that converts visitors into loyal customers. ### 7. What other marketing services do you provide? Beyond web design, we offer a full range of marketing solutions including branding, graphic design, social media management, newsletters, SEO, photography, and video production — everything you need to build your presence and promote your brand. ### 8. How do you handle ongoing maintenance or updates after launch? We offer affordable maintenance packages that include backups, updates, security monitoring, and content edits. Think of it as mission control continuing to support your site long after launch day. ### 9. What does your pricing structure look like? Every project is unique, so pricing is based on your specific goals and requirements. We’ll provide a clear, detailed proposal with transparent costs and no hidden fees — so you can make informed decisions before committing. ### 10. Do I need to provide all the content and images for my project? If you already have content, great! If not, we can help with copywriting, photography, or stock image curation. Our goal is to make the process as smooth as possible, so you can stay focused on your business while we handle the creative details. ### 11. How involved will I be in the process? We see every client as part of the crew. You’ll be involved at key stages — like design approval, content review, and testing — but we handle the heavy lifting so you can stay mission-focused without getting lost in technical details. ### 12. What if I just need help with one part of my marketing, like social media or branding? That’s perfectly fine! You can hire us for one-off projects like a logo, brochure, or campaign design — or choose a comprehensive plan that covers everything from web to marketing. Whether it’s a quick assist or a full-scale mission, we tailor our support to your needs. --- ### Contact URL: https://reddreamstudios.com/contact/ # Let’s Discuss Your Project Have an idea, a project, or a mission waiting for lift-off?
